Class Reunions
Reno, Nevada
September 15-19 2004
All our reunions have been great, but this one was perhaps the best yet. When we arrived on Wednesday, the 15th, the hospitality room at the Golden Phoenix was set-up with memorabilia, photos and some drinks and snacks to enjoy as we visited and caught up on the news from one another. Tom Zeitvogel did a tremendous amount of work making arrangements for our enjoyment. For starters, four vans were rented from Enterprise and provided transportation during our stay. On Thursday, most of us enjoyed a trip to the old Stead AFB for the National Air Races. Many of us took advantage of the pit passes and got to get up close and personal to a ton of different aircraft (and a Bentley automobile). On Friday, we toured the Navy's Top Gun School at Fallon NAS. We received briefings from one of their aviators from the Weapons Department, went up into the control tower where the Public Affairs gent told us some of the interesting history about the base and the Top Gun School. We had an excellent luncheon at the Officer's Club. There were plenty of good shows to see at the various casinos near the Golden Phoenix. Several of us nearly laughed ourselves to death at the show featuring Tim Conway and Harvey Korman. Saturday morning the golfers (and some of us who aren't) had a good time beating the little ball around the course. Also think none of us are ready for the tour yet, so Tiger et. al. can relax. <grin> There were alternate activities for those who didn't golf. Some of the options included visits to Virginia City, Carson City and the Railroad Museum and historical sites. Lake Tahoe, the Ponderosa movie set for Bonanza, paddle wheel boat rides, the National Auto Museum were also available. |
